Oak a corner tree in John Whitehead's line then along a line of marked trees to the prong 
of the second branch to James Barnes's the James Barnes line to a 
black Gum in the great branch then up the said branch to the Cypress road then up 
the said road to Nathan Barnes's line then along the said Barnes's line to 
John Whitehead's line then along the said Whitehead's line to the beginning to him to hold
to him & to his heirs and assigns forever

Item: I lend to my daughter Ann Barnes & Lela Vick the use of the room of my dwelling 
house for and during the term that they shall remain unmarried & no longer provided 
they do not dispose of this right to any other person

Item: I lend to my loving wife Barnes the use of the plantation whereon I now live, 
with the lands belong thereto not before dispos'd of for and during her life or widowhood 
and after her marriage or decease I give & bequeath said plantation & lands 
to my sons Josiah Barnes & Thomas Barnes to hold too my said sons & to their 
heirs and assigns forever

Item: I give and bequeath unto my sons Joshua Barnes & Willm Barnes (to be equally divided 
between them) one tract or parcel of land of lying in Pitt County N Carolina 
near Little Contenly Creek to hold to my said sons and their heirs and assigns forever

Item: I give and bequeath to my son James Barnes one track or parcel of land lying 
on the Hurrican Branch in Edgecomb County North Carolina too hold to my 
said son & to his heirs & assigns forever

Item: I lend to my loving wife Eliza Barnes all the remainder of my estate of 
all Kinds for during her life a widow & in case I sᵈ wife marry it is my 
will & desire that the whole of my personal estate should be equally divided between 
my said wife and all my children provided that if any of my children should have had 
any part of my personal Estate before that time that the same be deducted 
out their part

Item: I do appoint my loving wife Elizabeth Barnes and son Josiah Barnes to excuse this my 
last will & testament revoking all of the wills by me heretofore made In Witness 
whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 15 day of Sept Anno Dom 1790

At a Court held for the County of Southampton on 11th 
day of February 1796  This Will was proved by the oaths 
of Edmund Barrett James Barnes and Jesse Barrett three of the 
witnesses thereto And ordered to be recorded -  And on the motion 
of the said Exors who made oath according to law Certificate is granted them for 
obtaining a probat thereof in due form giving Security whereupon &c

The nuncupative will of Lydia Vaughan decd as published and declared by her in 
her last sickness at the house of Noel Vick in the county of Southampton and state of Virginia 
in presence of Millie Porter and Patty Vick on Sunday night in the twentieth day of the 
instant (December) where she had resided for near the space of One year past
